Just Another Day
This site honors police officers, firefighters and regular citizens who have given their lives to protect us. Who woke in the morning, put on their uniforms or business attire because it was Just Another Day, but never returned home.
The Ride of Honor ended on September 28 as a wonderful experience and success.
Total miles covered: 7,159.
Funds raised for the Friends of Flight 93 Memorial: $2,314.
In addition, we presented Ride of Honor patches, certificates and pins to 26 police officers, firefighters and police departments across the country as a tribute to those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
From this Ride, there will be extensive coverage of the people, places and stories gathered along the way in two books to be published in the first quarter of 2013.
"Just Another Day" will detail the stories of those officers and firefighters who gave their all in the line of duty. Some of the stories are heartbreaking, other heartwarming.
"Drago #7: A Long Ride to Nowhere" will include factual locales, people and stories derived from the Ride of Honor.
On September 9, the National Parks Service closed off donations specifically to the Flight 93 Memorial Park informing us that all donations would now be put into the NPS general fund.
That is not what we intended. We instead contacted the Friends of Flight 93 and are working with them to put the funds into a specific Flight 93 Memorial account. We are currently in discussions about how those funds will be dispersed and range from scholarships to assistance site improvements. We will let you know the outcome soon.
For all of you who made the Ride of Honor a success, thank you for both your donations and your support.
