WEATHER UPDATE REGARDING THE RIDE
Due to the nature of bike rides taking place outdoors, weather conditions can play a large role in the production of the event. We strive to produce a full and safe bicycle rally, but sometimes the weather impacts those plans.
After consulting with several weather charts, we have made the decision to cancel Saturday’s ride. Safety for everyone involved is paramount over logging mileage. Rain, standing water on the country roads, wet roads, and decreased visibility are some of the factors that led us to make this difficult decision. We could not find a future date that would work for volunteers and rest stop availability. We will try again next year and will send each of you a coupon code for 50% off registration for next year’s event.
Proceeds from registration fees and donations will continue to benefit the HALO fund. Because a significant amount of the funds collected during registration have already been spent, registration refunds are not possible. The Cycling Team will be traveling to Washington DC for National Police Week in May, participating in the Police Unity Tour. The Cycling Team paid 100% of the registration, hotel, and airfare for two of our survivors to attend this year’s event.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We hope next year’s weather will be better and we can enjoy the beautiful scenery the country roads of Athens have to offer.
We cannot thank each of you enough for your support.
